“Mr. Cho, please buy us beefsteak at xx Restaurant.”

Hyundai Genuine (an intermediate holding company of Hyundai Heavy Industries’ construction equipment division), which was launched in August 2021, is operating programs designed to enhance its competitiveness through communication management. It is noteworthy that the programs are those wherein employees take part voluntarily so they feel a high level of satisfaction.

Recently, the Company adopted programs like Usacho (“Meet our CEO”) and Usinso (“Meet new member of our team”) designed for free communication among all members including the CEO and newly hired young employees.

Usacho is a program operated twice a month. An employee can apply for a dinner with the CEO by selecting colleagues close to him/her and the restaurant. The program became so popular among employees that applications had to be closed within only three minutes of the release of the relevant public notice via in-house mail on May 17.

The Company expects the program to provide an opportunity for fostering a flexible organizational culture through employees’ first-hand communication with the CEO and open discussion about pending issues.

Mr. Gang Hyeon-mo (manager at the Functional Goods Sales Team), who took part in the first session of Usacho on May 17, said in his mail to CEO Cho Young-chul following their dinner, “The dinner with our CEO was a special experience. It was a session where I could understand the Company’s situation better through our CEO’s explanation of the purpose and directions of our functional goods business. We even exchanged opinions on how to date a woman. I am really grateful for such a wonderful opportunity.”

Designed for the expansion of newly hired employees’ in-house human resources network, Usinso was also started this month. Unlike a session for mentoring carried out by the Company’s designated old-timers, this program allows newly hired employees to invite old-timers from another team to build friendship. The program is operated for about 20 employees newly hired last January, paying 100,000 per month to each of them for 6 months for dinner.

Considering the fact that the MZ generation (those born in 1980 or later) accounts for 65% of all employees, the Company launched the CA (Change Agent) team composed of 12 employees representing each sector. The members selected for a two-year term are encouraged to communicate with those at departments engaging in the onsite work and convey the opinions to the top managers.

“We expect employees’ ideas to lead to flexible innovation and then to the Company’s overall competitiveness. I’ll strive to communicate with employees as often as possible to foster an organizational culture wherein all employees including those from the MZ generation express their views freely,” the Company’s CEO Cho Young-chul said.
